Educational Program Highlights
Once considered the forbidden fruit of the West, Cuba is now closer than ever. Fascinating history, breathtaking architecture, warm people, rich music and art impart key lessons in global hemispheric cooperation. Our student travelers explore Havana beneath the touristy exterior, meeting fascinating Cubanos on the wave of change. Our intensive arts and music program invites students to build cross-cultural alliances with Cuban youth, while discovering Cuba’s unique cultural evolution as a sovereign entity dating before Spanish colonialism. Students learn how artistic expression and musical traditions characterize its inimitable island style, and continue to shape a fierce national identity. By dissolving barriers through activities in the universal languages of art and music, students understand the Cuban culture and humanize real people once-dismissed as "enemy communists.”
